Grover resigns!

I dont know about this Grover resignation, it seems like he is not being a team player. The Mariners have had a few 6+ game winning streaks but, as M's color commentator Mike Blower points out, they have also had a losing streak just as long. I have an uneasy feeling about this, that it might come back to haunt the Mariners. Resigning during a winning streak, could this turn into another Billy Goat curse or Curse of the Bambino, I certainly hope not.

Bring out the brooms

The Mariners just have the Sox's number this year, especially at Safeco. The lost last night was their eighth consecutive on the road in Seattle. Before this series the BoSox had the best record on the road in baseball, and the best record. Felix had a poor start this week after pitching so well against them in Boston eariler this year. I hope to see Felix improve and to put together a few consistent starts. His work ethic bothers me. My most significant worry about the Mariners is its starting rotation. That has proven again and again the key to late-season runs and postseason success. Lead by a recently shaky Hernandez, in second Washburn, Baustista, rookie Feriebrend, DLed Ramirez, mysterious Weaver, things are not looking too good. I want to finally watch a decent second-half performance from the M's, for once give me a hometown team to admire when it matters most.

Jeff Weaver

He has been doing well lately, after a horrific start. It makes me wonder what could have been so wrong earlier in the season, he has the stuff, the fastball, etc. Often it has been a result of injury but when its not, is it mental? His complete game vs. the Pirates was very impressive and it caught me by surpise. In the dugout during his most recent start, against the Red Sox yesterday, Grover was giving him atta-boys. I didnt see his exit but hopefully he was given a good round of applause. Well done Weav.
